A Brief history of Austria
The Celtic people that settled the land of Austria in ancient times were an important trading partner with the Roman Empire. The Danube Valley of Austria was ruled by the Roman Empire before they retreated and migrants traveled to the region. The populous continued to grow as the Austrian empire evolved. The complicated history of Austria began in the mid-nineteenth century when the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary was established. This did not last long, however, as the partnership crumbled after World War One. The most notable invasion of the country was seen when Hitler invaded the vulnerable nation during his occupation of the countries surrounding Germany. The country now is a proud member of the EU council and a popular tourist destination as its natural beauty can not be challenged.
