A Brief History of Belgium
More than the beautiful architecture that litter the castle-ridden landscape, this densely populated nation has a people who speak a variety of languages from the regions surrounding the country. With French and German dominating the conversations, Flemish is also spoken in the northern parts of the country. This nation was founded in 1830 after becoming independent from the Netherlands. Belgium has been seen most famously throughout the world as an original member of NATO and the site of many battles throughout both world wars, as well as the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The nation now consists of urban areas and lots of production of their famous chocolate and beer. The United Nations also holds its capital here.
